India is braced for a new high-end aviation experience - but it won’t arrive quite in time for Christmas.
Delhi-based Vistara is now taking bookings via its website, with flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad due to commence January 9.
The new brand is offering a “world-class flying experience” and will be the first full service Indian carrier to offer Premium Economy, alongside 16 Business Class seats on its 20 leased A320 aircraft.
There will be no saris in sight, as per most Indian carriers, with cabin crew donning Abraham & Thakore-designed pantsuits. Another distinction is the modernised loyalty system, which does away with a physical card. The Club Vistara app can now be downloaded.
Vistara will connect 11 Indian cities by 2015, including Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jammu, Srinagar, Patna and Chandigarh.
The name Vistara is derived from the Sanskrit word, ‘Vistaar’, which means ‘limitless expanse’, and the logo is derived from a ‘yantra’, a perfect mathematical form that reflects the unbounded universe.
