Travelling by air to Abu Dhabi next year? Well from February 9 2024, you and your fellow adventurers will no longer be landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Announced by The Abu Dhabi Media Office, Abu Dhabi International Airport is set to be renamed as Zayed International Airport after a directive was issued by the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan. The renaming is set to coincide with the airport’s official opening ceremony of the new Terminal A.
Opening on November 1 2023, the new facility will accommodate up to 45 million passengers per year, process 11,000 travellers per hour, and operate 79 aircraft at any given time.
Covering more than 740,000 square metres, Terminal A will be one of the largest airport terminals in the world with 163 retail, food and beverage outlets and a 138-bedroom hotel.
