This stunning new yacht concept comes from Italy’s Lobanov Design, in collaboration with BMT Nigel Gee, a British naval architect firm.
The 435-foot Star is minimalist, yet somehow also extravagant. The white hull is striking with its dramatic snowflake-esque angles but will surely be even more eye-catching by night, when the vessel is illuminated.
With 37,674 square feet of space across eight decks, Star is bigger than it may seem in these renderings, and needs sufficient power to propel it across the water. The boat will have eight generators powering two hybrid azimuth thrusters, which will enable movement in any direction – including the ability to rotate on the spot.
The 200-foot high boat can sleep 36 guests in 18 cabins but up to 200 passengers can party at a time.
"Outside the marine industry, all yachts look the same: it seems that modern architecture, product design and car design have no influence on yachts," said Lobanov in a statement.
The firm told business insider that Star will cost an estimated US $500 million and will be sold as a private yacht or perhaps even a hotel; and a relatively speedy one at that. The boat is expecting to reach speeds of up to 18 knots.
