The 747 Sleeper could give your home more of a lift – if you’re willing to spend thousands of dollars on a king-size bed made from second hand materials. The price is yet to be finalised but $20,000 is reported to be a conservative estimate.
Californian firm MotoArt specialises in furniture made from parts of vintage planes and this new product has thrusted the firm into the limelight.
The bed’s mattress, which takes king size and California king size bedding, rests between two halves of a nacelle – a circular piece of casing separate from the main fuselage that can hold an engine, fuel, or other equipment.
“This is designed to create the hottest and most luxurious cloud 9 experience on the planet. 70,000 pounds of thrust just ended up in your bedroom,” said managing director Dave Hall.
MotoArt also has a range of other impressive items, including desks, sculptures, seating and tables made from wings and propellers. There’s even a 12-foot wide Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet Conference Table made from a General Electric engine nacelle.
The polished table seats up to 12 and includes a set of 6 pop-up connection ports. Topped with a B-52 engine spinner, the table can be illuminated with LED lights in a colour of your choice.
