Set for a December unveiling, the impeccably design-credentialled LUX* Grand Gaube is set to put a new spin on Mauritian hospitality. Fresh-faced and feel-good, the resort has undergone an ambitious US$32 million makeover at the hands of renowned creative duo Kelly Hoppen and Mauritian architect Jean-Francois Adam.
Understated, eclectic, lived-in glamour is the underlying design ethos here, with playful artistic touches via street art and murals. Gardens designed by Chelsea Flower Show winner Stephen Woodhams are bursting with beyond-bright bougainvillea and grand banyan trees, providing colourful foil to the powdered gold sands of the beaches.
Indoor-outdoor dining spans global tastes and the Palm Court Bar boasts the largest selection of Prosecco and ciders in Mauritius, with plenty of imported and local beers on tap to cheers to another perfect day in paradise. All the trimmings are here too – think indoor cinema for movies and sporting events, a luxe-for-less boutique, a treehouse rum bar and mobile pop-up bar, named French Kiss.
