You may have felt the comfort of a Mercedes-Benz GL, but how about this Mercedes-designed apartment? Mercedes-Benz Living @ Fraser is a pilot project that sees six uniquely designed serviced apartments come on the market this autumn.
The interiors come courtesy of Mercedes-Benz Style, who has also been signed by Frasers Hospitality Group to design a further nine apartments next year in Singapore. With the partnership, the automaker is translating its designs and technologies into the hospitality sector.
"More and more people are permanently on the move. They live and work in unfamiliar cities where they are looking for a 'home away from home' and a sense of security," explained Wilfried Steffen, head of the business innovation department. "That's exactly what we want to offer them – and at the very highest level and with the perfection and quality that you'd expect from Mercedes-Benz."
The brand describes the apartments as “modern luxury” and the aesthetics are modelled on Mercedes’ current vehicle range. Measuring 50 to 100 square metres, the accommodations also see input from design partners Burmester and crystal maker Swarovski, who have curated the apartments with business travellers in mind.
The six London apartments, which are located in Kensington, have up to 100 square metres of space that includes a generously proportioned living and dining area, a fully fitted kitchen and two bedrooms. The nine apartments in Singapore will have around 50 square metres of living space.
"As in our vehicles we have combined sensual surfaces and clean lines with intelligent high-tech functionality in order to create a perfectly conceived world of modern luxury that promotes wellbeing and relaxation," said Gorden Wagener, head of design at Daimler AG.
One of the most distinctive features is the 'Black Magic Wall', a media wall with integrated smart TV and high-gloss black finish that has a cool technical appearance – an impressive contrast to the vibe of the Kensington Street locale. The sofas are also noteworthy; shaped and sized to evoke sculptures, lined in silver covers with the feeling of velour.
