The world’s number one restaurant is now selling off the tableware used during its five-week stint at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo.
Noma, a two-star Michelin restaurant and consecutive winner of The World’s 50 Best, opened its long-awaited temporary Tokyo restaurant on January 9 – now everything must go.
The pop-up saw head chef René Redzepi move his entire staff of 50 to the Japanese capital to the five-star hotel to meddle with seasonal Japanese ingredients and impress the palettes of diners at the sell-out endeavour.
More than 60,000 people applied to dine, although there were only just over 4,000 successful applicants. However, there’s still a chance to take home a piece of the collaboration – literally - via a new online shop.
Redzepi and his team worked with 14 different Japanese artists to creat the tableware that was both locally sourced and designed. The team included potter Masanobu Ando, artist Masashi Ifuji and designer Drew Rosskelly. The collection was also co-curated by Arts&Science creative director, Sonya Park.
