No, it’s not a distant mountain range; it’s a new designer airport soon to be built in Norway, providing a gateway into the Helgeland region in the north of the country.
Designed by British and Scandinavian design firms Haptic and Nordic respectively, the Arctic Ocean Airport will be the first new airport built in Norway for 40 years.
The wave-roof design of the terminal building was inspired by the nearby Træna Mountains and the rugged landscape of the Helgeland Coast, creating an impressive spectacle for passengers flying into the airport.
"The Arctic Ocean Airport will capture the spirit of [northern Norway] in relation to natural forms, light, ocean and its materiality. The terminal building is organised in a highly functional manner ... and allows flexibility for future expansion," Haptic Architects said on its website.
"The roof form is the defining element, which embraces the spirit of the region, natural phenomena and spectacular scenery."
