Leading up to this summer’s World Cup, Brazil has seen little more than five million tourists visit each year. So given that half a million football fans will descend on its 12 host cities, it may be tricky to find a room.
While there are reports that many are resorting to budget accommodation with the nation’s infamous favelas, there are some more enticing options. And what better way to experience the World Cup than by staying in the home of a living legend.
Brazil ace Ronaldhino has advertised his five-bedroom “Casa Espetacular na Barra” in Rio de Janeiro for 34,333 Brazilian Reals (US $15,200) a night via rental site AirBNB.
“Hi guys! Taking advantage of the movement of these coming months I'm putting my house in Rio for rent,” said Ronaldhino, on his official Facebook page.
“It's a nice place where I had many good experiences with my friends and my family. Take a look, is there on Airbnb. Hugs.”
It is uncertain whether Ronaldinho's trophies will be kept on display
Guests can enjoy access to the sauna, spa pool, barbecue, home theatre, gourmet kitchen with balcony, cellar, drinks fridge, fireplace, office, zen massage or yoga room, three-car garage and samba stage.
But visitors should not expect to share the luxury apartment with the soccer star. Ronaldinho will be watching the tournament from his home in Belo Horizonte.
