Described as a ‘self-balancing electric uniwheel’, Goldgenie’s 24-karat Gold Segwheel is a perfect blend of cutting edge tech, quirky fun and bling.
Taking innovative technology from aerospace transport control, a gyroscope system is used to maintain balance through bodyweight adjustments as users control the ‘vehicle’ by leaning forward or backward and pitching left and right.
The gadget is adorned with over 5 microns of 24-karat gold and finished with a ‘Gold Python skin’ design and can travel up to 18km/hr for 12km on a 45-minute charge.
In the words of the company itself: “The 24k Gold Segwheel is just the ticket to glide around the city in style and makes the perfect gift for eco-conscious commuters who value luxury and speed whilst riding on the cusp of innovation.”
The Segwheel can be shipped with optional stabilisers to ensure you don’t lose balance and end up on the tarmac. The lightweight design also makes it portable and easy to stash – perhaps under your desk after commuting to work.
And if plain gold isn’t your thing, Goldgenie also offers customisation with diamonds, semi-precious stones and even personalised laser engraving. The $44,123 price tag excludes shipping and VAT, but the UK-based firm has said it will deliver the device to anywhere in the world.
