With the recent introduction of Etihad’s luxury three-room first class cabin and news of Virgin Atlantic trialling Google Glass as a check-in method, you don’t have to look very far to see that air travel is changing. But just how different will your in-flight experience be by 2050? This is the exact question posed by ‘The Future by Airbus’ project.
Gazing more than 35 years into the future, Airbus has predicted what your cabin will look like at the mid-point of the century – and there’s not a plastic fork or lukewarm pasty in sight. Based on research conducted by the manufacturer, in which more than 10,000 frequent fliers were surveyed, cabins are likely to improve environmental credentials, offer broader entertainment options and generally feel like part of the holiday.
