Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is blowing out 10 candles with the unveiling of 20 stunning new suites – with a unique alpine twist. The hotel’s 15 new Aspen Ski Chalets offer unique views over the powdery snow of Ski Dubai, as well a ski lodge aesthetic with plush wooden fixtures, mellow, lighting and even a roaring (crackling) 2D fireplace projection in each lounge and master bedroom.

The majority of the suites offer two bedrooms but the three three-bedroom chalets (costing AED25,000 per night) are spread over three levels with two rooms overlooking the slopes and one master bedroom overlooking the pool area with views of the Palm and Burj Al Arab. All rooms are en-suite and stocked with Hermes amenities.

The new extension has taken around a year to complete and was designed as a “hotel within a hotel” concept on the hotel’s second floor. Each suite has the warmth and comfort of a luxury ski lodge in its namesake Aspen, Colorado, but with the Gulf standard of luxury and dedicated butlers on hand to attend to your every need.

The butler service – exclusive to chalet guests – includes an airport meet-and-greet for international travellers and transfers in a luxury car. Each butler has received extensive training from the International Butler Academy in the Netherlands, so rest assured the team will ensure every expectation is exceeded, with privacy guaranteed.

The suites’ rich colour palette includes dark browns and ivory white and each has a faux stone fireplace, presenting an authentic alpine design with accents of natural woods, stone and marble.

Even the cuisine is themed around a chalet experience, including seasonal delicacies like hot chocolate and marshmallows, accompanied by chocolate-dipped berries, fruit meringues and jellies. There’s also a special in-room dining menu available 24 hours a day, with an executive chef on hand to cater to private dining requests, including a full butler and table service.

“Demonstrating the very latest in design, technology and an exceptional level of service, the Aspen Chalets will provide a unique, authentic experience of an Aspen ski lodge in the heart of Dubai. We can’t wait to give residents and travellers to the UAE great moments they will cherish for many years to come,” said Grant Ruddiman, the hotel’s general manager.

In contrast the five Aspen Pool Chalets across the hall (pictured below) offer more of a bodega feel, with enclosed terraces that lead directly to the pool. The quintet of accommodations celebrate summer with neutral colours and textures that are said to be inspired by the Florida Keys – offering a master bedroom, lounge and porch area facing the pool.

Following theAED368 million investment, the hotel has also seen the refurbishment of all 393 guest rooms and suites, the placement of new state-of-the-art conference and catering facilities, and the opening of three new restaurants and lounges, Olea, Salero Tapas & Bodega and NOIR. Furthermore, the renovation has included the hotel’s luxury lobby lounge, and the enhancement of the hotel lobby.
