With the new year comes another run of the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival. This year’s edition in the picturesque Swiss resort town takes a decidedly British slant, and will see nine UK-based master chefs bombard a host of events in the Upper Engadine from January 26 to 30.
Claude Bosi, Angela Hartnett, Virgilio Martínez, Jason Atherton, Nathan Outlaw, Isaac McHale, Atul Kochhar, Martin Burge and Chong Choi Fong will ensure the grand opening at the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains, St. Moritz (above) is a night for your taste buds to remember.
From the exclusive five-course Gourmet Dîner events, to the chauffeured BMW-driven Gourmet Safaris and the ‘Illustrious Kitchen Whispering’ event with guest chef Jason Atherton at Hotel Schweizerhof, there’s a superabundance of sumptuous occasions and haute-cuisine to sink your teeth into.
Other highlights include the Wine & Cheese Celebration in the vaulted cellar at the Hotel Steffani, St. Moritz, and of course The Dorchester Afternoon Tea — a quintessentially British tradition — at the nearby Grand Hotel Kronenhof, Pontresina.
"With the master chefs from the United Kingdom, we will be able to present during this festival week a great variety of events that will no doubt make your gourmet hearts beat faster," explained Reto Mathis, president of event organisation.
"The Grand Opening at the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains will be an enjoyable start, followed by the individual Gourmet Dîners and the Gourmet Safaris, the legendary Kitchen Party at the Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, as well as further special events and tastings. The crowning event of this festival week will be the Great BMW Gourmet Finale, taking place with all the master chefs at the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz," he added.
