Strung along the shoreline of Northwest Point Marine National Park in the Turks and Caicos – home to some of the best diving in the Caribbean – Amanyara is the stuff tropical dreams are made off. The resort’s collection of Jean-Michel Gathy-designed villas and pavilions are set back from the shoreline, hidden behind rocky coves and nestled among lush vegetation, providing the perfect setting for intimate escapes.
To mark the resort’s 15-year anniversary, 38 pavilions have been given a makeover by design firm Olson Kunding, which was tasked with breathing new life into the stylish abodes while preserving the minimalist aesthetic created by Gathy. Sensitive upgrades to the standalone pavilions have seen the addition of deep-soaking bathtubs and refreshed bathrooms, new custom-made beds for uninterrupted slumber, and an elegant collection of new furniture inside and out.
The Amanyara Pavilion stands out for its prime position above the Providenciales coast, affording sublime views of the turquoise Caribbean, as well as its T-shaped swimming pool, sunset-facing sala and the services of a dedicated villa host. Pool Pavilions feature a 12-metre-wide infinity edge swimming pool surrounded by a generously sized teak deck, while the Oceanfront Pavilions are elevated six metres above the shoreline, with private pathways leading down to the water’s edge.
As part of a programme of new activities, guests can now explore the sponges, corals and abundant marine life that dwell in the near-vertical walls of Northwest Point on a tailor-made dive trip, while those who prefer to keep their head above the water can travel to Long Bay Beach on the far side of the island to try kite boarding, or ride along the Amanyara beaches and nature trails on horseback.
