Like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, Mauritius’s legendary Le Touessrok resort has resurfaced from a six-month hiatus and change of ownership. Situated on the island’s east coast in Trou d’Eau Douce Bay, with its own private island, Ilot Mangénie, the resort has 200 rooms and suites that all offer Indian Ocean views and direct beach access.
Reopening as Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius, the hotel now has five restaurants and three bars, but guests may prefer to unwind at CHI, The Spa with its holistic and Ayurvedic treatments. Leisure facilities also include two swimming pools, a kid’s club and an 18-hole par-72 championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer.
The course is located on Ile aux Cerfs, but guests also have access to Ilot Mangénie, an exclusive private island, to explore its 3.5-kilometres of white sand and vibrant vegetation. The island boasts complimentary water sports such as kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, snorkeling and water skiing off the beautiful coastline, or for a fee, kite surfing, parasailing, big game fishing and scuba diving.
Three beach villas, each spanning 423 square metres, offer peace and privacy. With 24-hour butler service, the villas feature a separate entrance, three bedrooms, an infinity pool and private beach access. Other amenities include champagne on arrival, an open bar, monogramed bathrobes, a dedicated electric car to move around the resort, as well as daily fruit and canapés. A villa stay also comprises a personal welcome at the airport and use of a lounge, and luxury limousine transfers.
In the words of the resort themselves: “An escape to Shangri-La's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius, will expose one to renowned traditions, bespoke gastronomic experiences and holistic wellness. The resort's new, hip and contemporary design complements the natural landscape to immerse guests in the perfect mix of style, sophistication and legend.”
