Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has officially assumed management of the historic Hôtel Lutetia in Paris, which becomes its second property in the French capital. Rebranded as Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris, the hotel is the only Palace-designated hotel on the Left Bank and joins the group’s flagship address on Rue Saint-Honoré on the Right Bank.

Originally opened in 1910 by the founders of Le Bon Marché, the Lutetia is a landmark of Art Nouveau and Art Deco design. Over its history, the hotel has hosted cultural figures including Picasso, Matisse, Charles de Gaulle and James Joyce—who completed Ulysses during a stay. The property underwent a major restoration in 2018 led by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, preserving its architectural legacy while upgrading interiors for modern luxury standards.

Mandarin Oriental Lutetia offers a full suite of hospitality experiences across gastronomy, wellbeing and culture. Highlights include Brasserie Lutetia, Bar Josephine and Akasha Spa. The property remains under the ownership of the Akirov family, who will continue to support its evolution in partnership with Mandarin Oriental.

With this addition, Mandarin Oriental now offers two distinct experiences in Paris—one contemporary and understated on the Right Bank and one heritage-rich and grand on the Left—positioning the brand uniquely in the city’s luxury hospitality landscape.
