The Palace Hotel is part of The Address Hotels + Resorts and, as its name suggests, it is a palatial masterpiece. Its backdrop is the mighty Burj Khalifa – you simply can’t get a better location in Dubai.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, The Spa has introduced a couple’s suite complete with a Valentine’s package. I simply couldn’t resist, so I popped over to test it out.
Spas in the Middle East are generally divided into ladies and gentlemen’s quarters. To start the Valentine’s package, the couple proceeds to his or her respective change and relaxation suites. Immediately, the Arabian feel filters through the décor, but subtle touches of Asia also become apparent, which gives the spa a blend of influences.
The neutral hues and earthy tones complemented by warm gold lighting instantly invite your senses to relax and forget the stresses from the outside world.
The therapists greet you in reception, where you fill out the necessary paperwork while you sip the delicious and healthy cucumber, lemon and mint juice. Next, they escort you to the elegant changing area and provide you with a fluffy robe and slippers.
The couple’s suite is located just outside the reception area so when the room is prepared your therapist will collect you from the relaxation area and bring you to the treatment room, where you are reunited with your other half.
My therapist April was extremely knowledgeable on all the products she was going to use for our footbath ritual, followed by 50-minute massage culminating in a 55-minute facial.
She talked me through the treatment and allowed me to choose the oil – a relaxing lavender and rose geranium combination – performed the footbath and then took me into the beautiful couple’s suite. The treatment room is extremely elegant and rose petals tossed over the floor and bed created that romantic feel.
The therapist was very professional and ensured her pressure, the lighting and music were to my liking at all times. The little touches such as a bowl filled with rose petals placed under the massage bed or offering a handful of rose oil in your hand to inhale before the treatment started were a real treat for the senses.
As soon as the 50-minute massage started the stresses of my long day were soon forgotten.
After this, my therapist began the 55-minute facial, which was completely tailored to my needs. Before the treatment we discussed problems I had been experiencing with my skin and she ensured me the treatment would help.
The products used were from the Carita range. She started with a cleanser to remove all impurities, an eye gel for soothing followed by a thick exfoliator to help remove dead cells. A moisturising mask was then applied and finished with a hydrating serum.
As the treatment came to an end, my therapist offered some good advice on what she discovered during both the massage and the facial – some tips I will certainly be using in the future to help combat tight muscles around the neck.
The final aspect of the Valentines packages is a glass of bubbly complete with strawberries and cream for you and your partner to enjoy.
The couple’s suite at The Spa is a beautifully private area where you and your partner have time to reconnect and enjoy some precious ‘together time’.
