Since Bugatti ceased production of the world’s fastest street-legal supercar last year, there has been much speculation regarding the Veyron’s replacement.
This week, assumptions that the 2009 Galibier concept (pictured above) would be pushed into production – and Chinese whispers regarding a new ‘SuperVeyron’ – have been solidly discredited. Bugatti has announced that its latest model will come by 2016; and will be like nothing we’ve seen before.
The Bugatti Galibier was unveiled as a concept design in 2009, but will not go into production
“[The new Bugatti] won’t be a Veyron replacement, it’ll be more than that. We’re investigating all avenues at the moment,” Walter de Silva, head of VW Group design told the BBC’s Top Gear.
“We’re working hard at Bugatti, but don’t worry, it’s coming. I cannot predict exactly, but at the end of 2015 or early 2016, we’ll see the new Bugatti.”
Although details regarding the upcoming hypercar are limited, a tight-lipped de Silva revealed that the new model will remain firmly in the “super sportscar” bracket, and will demonstrate the latest technology in the world of performance motoring.
