Ferarri has been putting a V12 engine in its Gran Turismo vehicles since 1947. This year is no different. The Ferrari 12Cilindri and Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider were recently unveiled to the world in Miami last month.

This new mid-front-engined car outputs 818bhp, has an eight-speed DCT gearbox, independent four-wheel steering and a host of other impressive tech that you would expect from Ferarri.

Ferarri has been part of Formula 1 since it’s inception back in 1950. The technological limits pushed in developing engines for the race cars often gets passed down to cars built for the road. This legendary V12 engine is no different. It has followed some of the modifications made on the Ferrari 812 Competizione that have come from the engines featured in the Formula 1 cars, such as the sliding finger follower for a higher-performance valve lift profile.

Chief product development officer Gianmaria Fulgenzi reminds us that Ferrari should provide “butterflies in the stomach at every shift!” In terms of design, the Ferrari 12Cilindri and Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider incorporte references to the aeronautical world through the distinctive shapes of delta wings, while being inspired by historical models: the essence of tradition, immersed in a new stylistic code.
