Since 2006, the authentic and unique tourism conservation organisation, Great Plains has amassed a portfolio of 14 prestigious owned and partner safari properties across Botswana, Kenya and Zimbabwe. July 2023 will see the launch of its latest property, Sitatunga Private Island Camp, part of Botswana’s latest Okavango Delta water-based Réserve-Collection Safari Camp. The camp is located on a private island – one of the few locations where one can still see the rare aquatic sitatunga antelope. Designed with a ‘salvage’ reference, complete with giant basket shapes as a nod to the local Okavango fishing ancestries, the suites are nestled into thick ebony canopies. Inside the misty green and blue décor and antique carpets pick up on the surrounding reeds and water elements. Each suite has its own lounge and plunge pool.
Guests are encouraged to take their meals as per their own schedules with each meal prepared by Executive Chef’s and their teams and served indoors or outdoors as per guest preference. The resort’s standout two-bedroom Sitatunga Private Island Suite will stretch across 6,534 sq ft and is built on a raised private deck, accommodating up to four adults. Offering barefoot luxury for slow safari guests the camp can organize the opportunity to explore the Okavango Delta’s permanent channels by boat, guided morning walks and fishing or photographic safaris. A wine cellar and boutique are also available to guests within the camp. All suites offer complimentary use of a professional camera and lens set.
