There are few things more magical than passing on a love of travel and adventure to your kids and while it’s often thought that travelling with young children can be, shall we say, fraught, the benefits far out way the challenges. At Great Plains – a world-renowned African tourism conservation organisation – adventure and kids go hand-in-hand, especially at Tembo Plains Camp in Zimbabwe, with its Young Explorers Programme, which opens on April 1, 2023. Set against a backdrop of the Zambezi river, joined by elephants, hippos, giraffes and more, youngsters can explore, discover and get lost in adventure, in and around the lodge, which is tucked away in the private 128,000 hectare Sapi Private Reserve.
From child-friendly treatments at the Bush Spa, to guided expeditions in search of wildlife (big and small), to canoe rides down the Zambezi river, or a spot of bush cricket on the sandbanks of the river, children from aged six and up will be immersed in the very best of African wildlife adventures. Paired with a guide, who will host, teach and care for each child throughout their stay, the camp aims to educate and entertain, whilst encouraging kids to become their most adventurous selves by stepping away from traditional every day routine to later return home with an entirely new outlook on life.
