Wherever The Chedi lays its cape, good things tend to follow. The boutique luxury brand has been present in the Middle East for more than a decade, with the ever popular The Chedi Muscat and the more recent The Chedi Al Bait in Sharjah, commanding loyal followings of fans with their blend of ultra-luxury service, exquisite design and culturally significant locations. Now, owning company GHM is poised to make its debut in the Qatari capital.
The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha is currently under construction in Katara Cultural Village, a purpose-built heritage village in the northern part of the city where theatres, concert halls, museums, galleries and mosques provide a fascinating insight into Qatari and Arabian culture. Paired with the incomparable Museum of Islamic Art on Doha Corniche and the nearby National Museum of Qatar, Doha is one of the best destinations in the region to savour a slice of Arabian history.

US architectural firm WATG is overseeing the development of the project, which will comprise a collection of buildings inspired by Indian Mughal and Ottoman architecture. The hotel will be home to 59 rooms and suites and 32 one- to five-bedroom chalets and villas, the latter dotted among the landscaped gardens of Katara Hills, within the Katara Cultural District.
Guests can expect to find a long swimming pool on the beachfront (in homage to the much-awarded Long Pool at The Chedi Muscat), as well as a family infinity pool and beach club, and extensive spa and wellness facilities. The hotel’s lobby will boast sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf, while rooms and suites will provide views of the sea and city.
When it opens next July, hotel guests will be able to visit the cultural attractions of the 100-hectare village via private buggy, or wander the elegant, pedestrianised streets on foot.
