The history, the culture, the food… There are many reasons why many American travellers find the allure of exploring Europe impossible to resist and aiding them in their efforts to discover the ‘Old World’ is United Airlines, which has announced a series of new and extended routes.
Beginning in Portugal, passengers can travel directly to the southern city of Faro from May 24 next year. Operating four-times-a-week, the route will depart from Newark Liberty International Airport with days and times to be confirmed later in the year. The new service will add to the airline’s existing journeys from the USA to Portugal with Washington Dulles to Lisbon, Newark to Porto and Newark to Ponta Delgada, Azores already in place.
May 23 will also see the resumption of seasonal flying between the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik and Newark for the first time in two years, with United Airlines ferrying passengers between the cities daily.
Additionally, the airline will add extra flights to Brussels, Malaga and Rome services, starting from March 30, May 2 and 23 respectively.
“United has the most flights to the most destinations across the Atlantic and we’re now giving our customers even more flexibility and choice when planning their trips abroad,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s SVP of Global Network Planning and Alliances. “Whether customers are looking to travel during peak season or shoulder season, visit the most popular tourism destinations or discover a hidden gem, the scope and scale of our network makes United the easy choice for transatlantic travel.”
