Madrid’s hotel family looks set for a new artistic addition with the Meliá Hotels International group revealing the opening date of its fourth property in the Spanish capital.
Situated in the renowned Las Letras district of the city, Casa de las Artes, Member of Meliá Collection will begin welcoming guests in May 2024.
Set on the site of the former property, Madrid Atocha Affiliated by Meliá, the new hotel embraces the cultural legacy and heritage of the surrounding area with each room paying tribute to Miguel de Cervantes and the Cervantes Society with an engraving by Gustave Doré created for the 1869 edition of Don Quixote.
Imagined by architect Álvaro Sans and designed by Adriana Sans of the ASAH studio, the 137-room property comprises of four interconnected buildings with a palatial structure dating back to 1913, that houses the hotel’s common areas where you can enjoy a relaxing read in the library; catch a film in the private cinema room; soak up the sun in the inner courtyard; or go for a dip in the thermal pool.
On the food front, gourmands will be treated to an innovative restaurant-theatre concept that sees guests feast on delicious cuisine while being immersed in a live show that unfolds around them.
When it’s time to explore your surroundings, leave the hotel and retrace the steps of legendary writers Cervantes and Quavado who called the area home during the Golden Age of Spanish Literature as well as making beelines to the Prado Museum, Thyssen Museum, and Reina Sofia Museum, all located within 1km walk from the hotel.
