Dubai is no stranger to setting records - the biggest mall, tallest building and the largest fireworks display - but this one (pun intended) is a little more cool.
The emirate’s new Scoopi Café is serving up a delectable ice cream dish that is retailing for DHS 2,000 ($819) a scoop. The As Wasl Road eating is stealing headlines with the Black Diamond dessert (below), which is made with exotic Madagascar vanilla ice cream, the world’s most expensive Iranian saffron and slices of black Italian truffle.

The costliest ingredient could well be the 23-karat edible gold, sprinkled over each scoop, all nestled in a Versace bowl – which the customer gets to keep.
Scoopi is a creation by Zubin Doshi who has sought to bring gourmet ice cream and handcrafted chocolates to the UAE. Scoopi's incorporate the use of liquid nitrogen to freeze its ice creams, which are completely void of artificial colours or flavourings.
Many of the ingredients are sourced from around the world. The cream is flown in from Denmark, Boiron fruit comes via France and chocolate ingredients are sourced from Hermitage-based luxury manufacturer Valrhona.
