Glistening ocean waves melding with sugar white sand, dreamy sunsets kissing the horizon and the call of nature tempting you to discover magnificent marine life; there is something special about COMO Maalifuhsi. And while the idyllic Maldivian hideaway has long been an Indian Ocean island escape for those in search of that perfect combination of relaxation and adventure, the island is set to serve up a new experience this October.
From 20th to 26th October, COMO Maalifushi will team up with the world-renowned Rafa Nadal Academy to create a new padel tennis camp for guests. A part of the hotel group’s COMO Journeys that offer guests intimate travel experiences rooted in mastery, the partnership will see players of all levels put through their paces, enhancing their skills and fitness levels.
Developed at his eponymous academy on his home island of Mallorca, Nadal’s padel training programme at COMO Maalifushi will see expert coaches go through the fundamentals of the lightning-fast racket sport, imparting professional tips and advice through personalised coaching and tailored workouts.
“We are excited to offer our guests this exclusive opportunity to learn from the best in padel tennis on our brand-new court that we just opened this year,” says Mohamed Sobah, General Manager of COMO Maalifushi.
“This camp highlights our commitment to providing unparalleled experiences. Our guests can look forward to an exceptional blend of professional coaching from the team at Rafa Nadal Academy amidst the breath-taking beauty of the Maldives, ensuring an unforgettable retreat that combines sport, wellness and luxury.”
Grouping players based on their skill levels, the padel sessions will take place daily, from 7am to 10am and 5pm to 7pm. Little ones can also take a swing at the sport with a more relaxed training camp, aimed at improving technique and hand-eye coordination. And when game, set and match has been called, the action does not end with the opportunity for guests to engage with former world number 16 and 2008 Olympic Games tennis doubles silver medallist, Anabel Medina Garrigues while savouring a barbecue lunch with fellow players.
Home to overwater villas and beach suites, COMO Maalifushi promises an ultimate away-from-it-all experience when you decide to hang up the padel racket for the day. The ultra-luxe resort is a surfer’s paradise with nature enthusiasts offered the opportunity to cast their eyes upon incredible nature including hammerhead sharks and manta rays as well as dolphins.
Book a trip to learn from the experts at Rafa Nadal Academy and you will also enjoy an Island Indulgence experience that features full-board dining and selected beverages at Madi restaurant and Thila bar.
