Soaring above its neighbours in Riyadh’s Central Business District, the Foster + Partners-designed Al Faisaliah Tower has been a landmark in the Saudi Arabian capital since it first opened in 2000, making rooms and suites at the adjacent Al Faisaliah Hotel some of the most coveted in the city.
More than 20 years later, Mandarin Oriental has taken over management of the iconic hotel, which will rebrand as Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh later this year following a major renovation. New York-based Adam Tihany Design, which has worked with Mandarin Oriental on projects in London, Hong Kong and Geneva, will oversee an extensive redesign of the guestrooms and public areas.
