Automobili Lamborghini celebrated the 45th anniversary of the iconic Countach LP 400 S that starred in the cult film, The Cannonball Run, by reuniting the female crew of actresses, Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman, for the first time since the movie’s release in June 1981. The sleek black and mustard-coloured Countach, known for its unique modifications for the film, captured the hearts of car enthusiasts and movie buffs alike.

Chosen to win the fictional Cannonball race, the car became a symbol of American culture and tradition, eventually earning a place in the US Library of Congress. To achieve this, the car had to be acknowledged as an object of extraordinary importance for American history, society and tradition. The reunion of the actresses, alongside the historic car, brought back memories of the film’s success and impact on society. “It’s impossible for me to remember how many times I signed a photograph or a model car of the Countach!” Buckman shared.

Lamborghini Polo Storico, the company’s department dedicated to preserving historical Lamborghinis, highlighted the importance of the Countach in shaping the brand’s legacy. Alessandro Farmeschi, After Sales Director of Automobili Lamborghini, commented, “It’s a car that ignited a passion for the Lamborghini brand and for the Countach model in many young enthusiasts who, after growing up, came to us as customers of our brand and our cars.”
