An unnamed bidder has won the trip of a lifetime. Tickets for Virgin Galactic’s space flights are being sold at $250,000, but one ticket sold for $1 million at this year’s amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala held at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
It has been reported that a host of celebrities have pledged to ride on Sir Richard Branson’s SpaceShipTwo when it launches next year, but the auction winner has been promised a flight with Hollywood A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio.

Sharon Stone, presided as auctioneer for the event, which netted $38 million for the amFAR – a charity that she chairs.
It was the second year DiCaprio put up a space trip for the auction. Last year, Russian real estate mogul Vasily Klyukin paid $1.5 million to feel “on top of the world” with the Titanic actor.
