The French marque has launched its “Bugatti Certified” program at the Techno Classica car show in Germany.
Aimed at protecting second owners of the Bugatti Veyron, the scheme is similar to other used car programs with a thorough inspection and extended warranty – but the move comes as the carmaker looks to shift stock.
It recently came to light that Bugatti were troubled with US $85 million in unsold stock, which may have tarnished the brand's image. The firm has also admitted it has no plans to develop another model before shifting its 40-or-so unsold Veyrons.
“A Bugatti is purchased as a collector’s item. To honor the trust placed in us and to ensure the lasting value of this automotive icon is our highest priority,” said board member Stefan Brungs.
The service will initially be available for the 300 Veyron and Veyron Super Sport coupes that have been sold. The program involves Bugatti engineers applying technical updates to the cars, extended warranties and the ‘Bugatti Certified’ seal.
Meanwhile other hypercars, such as the Koenigsegg One:1, are threatening to take the throne from the ageing Veyron as the ultimate street-legal auto.
Bugatti also recently launched its ‘Dynamic Drive Experience’ which gives test-drives of the 1,200-horsepower Vitesse convertible, on both open roads as well as a closed airport runway.
