After causing a stir in the Britain as the country’s youngest chef to be honoured with two Michelin stars, then heading abroad to the dining scenes of Istanbul and Hong Kong, chef Tom Aikens is ready to treat Dubai’s diners with a new concept restaurant.
Dubbed Pots, Pans & Boards, the venue is slated to open this September at The Beach, opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), with a dining philosophy that encourages a casual and friendly atmosphere. The Michaelis Boyd Associates-designed interior, peppered with dangling cookery and oversized cleavers wedged into antique kitchen tiles, is inspired by a rustic home kitchen and warmly welcomes friends and family to communal-size tables made from reclaimed wood.

The most important details are in the menu however, which features casual English, Mediterranean and French dishes, such as black squid tempura and lamb meatballs with harissa, all presented on or in – you guessed it – pots, pans and boards.
“The concept behind Pots, Pans & Boards stems from my own nostalgia of family and home cooking in a bustling and comfortable environment,” says Aiken. “Sharing food with friends and family means so much to me; it brings people closer together and makes the whole aspect of dining and eating out a truly memorable experience.”
A hot name in the UK dining scene for nearly 20 years now thanks to his innovation and unique interpretation of modern French fare, Tom Aikens’s eponymous restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star in 2004 and the second in 2008.
