Even at a cool US $230,000 a night, the price tag for a unique suite in Jukkasjärvi may not be unprecedented, except that it’s made out of ice – and clientele can design their icy home with a new Build Your Own Suite Option.
A world’s first, the Ice Hotel is offering visitors the opportunity to team up with in-house designers to produce their own custom-made abodes. The ultra-expensive suites will only be available between December and April – located 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle perimeter.
Once the consultation has taken place, blueprints are generated and work begins. Ice is borrowed from the River Torne, forming the building blocks of the tailored icy haven, which paying customers can even help chisel – with no added discount.
Departing guests get a bottle of melt water from the suite, while the rest returns to the river from whence it came.
