Those planning a visit to New York will no doubt already have The Beekman on their hit-list: the 1881 landmark property, one of New York’s finest architectural treasures, draws sighs of delight from anyone with an eye for design with its amazing nine-story Victorian atrium and period features. Now the hotel’s gone next-level, with the opening of two extraordinary Turret Penthouse Suites atop the iconic building. Lucky guests will access the 1,200 square-foot, two-floor suites via a private entry from the 10th floor and once inside, will no doubt pinch themselves - think 40-foot high pitched ceilings accented by enormous, jewel-like chandeliers; lavish living and dining complete with antique stone fireplaces; dark stained wood panelling, aged oak floors and curated artworks. A private concierge team is to hand, of course; and 800-foot private terraces top it all off with spectacular views across that dazzling NYC skyline.
On the West Coast, those looking for a little more of a boho-glam experience will fall for the Beverly Wilshire’s new rooftop glamping package. Guests reserving the hotel’s 10th-floor Veranda Suite can now access a truly luxurious pitched tent on the huge outdoor terrace, complete with queen-sized bed and Four Seasons linens, crystal chandelier, fur rugs, and marble lamps. Outside, guests can up the ante with an exclusive tasting menu featuring the likes of Special Reserve Ossetra caviar and Japanese Mishima ultra wagyu beef, finished off with posh s’mores (24-karat gold leaf, Tahitian vanilla bean marshmallow and smoked Valrhona chocolate, if you’ll excuse us) and champagne. Of course, you’ll also have access to the indoor suite and amenities, but it’s hard to see anyone pulling themselves away from this urban ‘great outdoors’ setup.
Meanwhile, Boston’s Envoy Hotel is set to welcome the cool change with the return of its coveted igloos for a second year at Lookout Rooftop & Bar, one of the city’s most impressive spots for drinking, nibbling, and general merriment all year round. Guests can ensconce themselves in the warm, cosy spaces with new seasonal cocktails and sensational views over Boston’s bright city lights and harbour.
