Legendary hotel designer and architect Jean-Michel Gathy has been appointed to head up the interior design on M/Y Njord, the private residential superyacht that will allow owners to cruise the world in unparalleled and perpetual luxury when it launches in 2024.
Gathy, founder of Kuala Lumpur-based architecture and design studio Denniston, has taken the helm to create social spaces on decks 10 to 13, as well as some of the palatial residences and penthouses aboard the 293-metre ship, each of which will be highly personalised to owners’ tastes. Features might include a walk-in wine cellar, cheese room, humidor, private gym and a safe room, and all feature spacious outdoor terraces from which to watch the sun set and rise from all corners of the world.
The company joins Italian design firm FM Architectura and Monacobased naval architectural company Espen Øino International to complete the design team of M/Y Njord, which is being developed by Ocean Residences Development.
Overall, the ship will feature 117 super-exclusive residences from two to six bedrooms, including 14 duplex suites and two triplex residences with private elevator, as well as a Chenot spa and wellness centre, six restaurants and an onboard marina, sailing club and dive centre. Other facilities to keep guests inspired include a golf centre, arts and crafts studio, library, chef’s kitchen and culinary studio, and a theatre.
Denniston’s portfolio features some of the finest hotels in the world; including properties designed for Aman, One&Only, Four Seasons, Cheval Blanc, Armani and Park Hyatt.
