Set amid a swathe of forested hillside on the eastern coast of Bali, Amankila is the kind of place you never want to leave. With three new Infinity Pool Suites and a raft of new destination experiences available for guests, you really don’t have to. Each of the three suites has its own nine-metre infinity pool looking out across the Lombok Strait, plus Bang & Olufsen sound systems and in-room iPads. One has its own poolside bale (open-sided Balinese pavilion), which can be used for couple’s spa treatments or outdoor dining, and all have spacious terraces and daybeds from which to soak in those spectacular views.
Next month, a new private cinema with 55-inch screen and surround sound will launch with a programme of lectures and films about Balinese history and culture, and the space can be reserved for family movie nights and sporting events. New cooking classes will take guests on a chef-guided visit to the local market, followed by a trip to Amankila’s garden to pick fresh ingredients with which to prepare a traditional Indonesian feast. If you prefer someone else to do the cooking, how about sunrise breakfast atop Tamasari Hill, with views across the surrounding rice paddies and the slopes of Mount Agung?
