In 1963, Jaguar set out to make 18 limited edition Lightweight E-Type sportscars. Inspired by the original E-Type, once heralded as “the most beautiful car ever made” by Enzo Ferrari, only a dozen lightweight versions were ever produced, condemning six assigned chassis numbers to futile oblivion – until now.
Suffering a fit of nostalgia, Jaguar has built the six missing E-Types to the exact specifications of the 1963 original, completing the series with half a dozen perfect reproductions. As a fitting tribute, the iconic aluminium-bodied racers will be given the unused chassis numbers from the 60s, some half a decade after they were first assigned.
