Monégasque Michelin-star chef Alain Ducasse has opened Rivea London in the UK capital's Bulgari hotel.
Said to be inspired by the food markets of Italy and Provence, the restaurant will offer both French and Italian fare in a “chic, convivial and relaxed setting”, but with less formal service.
Smaller plates will showcase the colours and flavours of Riviera cuisine, though ingredients will be sourced primarily from within the UK.
Ducasse's protégé Damien Leroux will take on the role of head chef. Leroux is reportedly passionate about “La Cuisine du Soleil”, having spent more than a decade under the guidance of Ducasse.
The wine list has been curated by wine director Gérard Margeon with head sommelier Sam Heathcote and features upcoming producers alongside iconic winemakers. The wines on offer will reflect the menu with bottles from the French & Italian Riviera, as well as Provence, Corsica, the South of the Rhône Valley.
The interior, by Italy’s Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners is light and airy with a sea-blue and white pearlescent colour scheme.
“I am delighted to bring RIVEA to a culinary scene as vibrant as London. The restaurant encompasses the essence of my cuisine, interpreted by my passionate young chef, Damien,” said Ducasse.
