The “pop up” concept has, in recent years, come to mean fleeting collaborations and flash retailing initiatives – but The Savoy appears to be reclaiming the concept we understood in our youth.
The luxe London hotel’s Beaufort Bar has introduced its creative new cocktail menus, featuring detailed hand-drawn illustrations that celebrate mixologist Chris Moore’s creations.
Just like a pop-up book, the detailed drawings combine ink, pencil and digital colour by artist Joe Wilson, with shaping from paper engineer Helen Friel.
Beaufort Bar’s ‘Character Cocktails’ are featured in the new menus as well as new, unique beverages such as the ‘Impressionist’. The Claude Monet-inspired drink contains Martini Rosato infused with strawberries and is served with a smoking rose.
The menus are currently on sale for US $80, but only 1,000 have been printed thus far. To browse the bar’s beverages in two-dimensional form, a digital menu is available here.
