LAND, SEA AND AIR – Glashütte Original has a long and storied history when it comes to precise timekeeping and flawless mechanics for navigation. Since 1845, when the watchmaker first began crafting timepieces, there has been a rich legacy of marine chronometers, observation watches, pilot and diver’s watches made in the German town of Glashütte, which shares its name with the brand.
Based on that wealth of experience, Glashütte Original has unveiled a fifth collection: the ‘Spezialist’.
The premiere model of the new collection is the diver’s watch SeaQ, which unites history and modernity with panache. As well as the flagship SeaQ, the Spezialist collection features a slightly larger SeaQ Panorama Date model in a variety of styles and a limited edition SeaQ 1969.
The SeaQ 1969 is modelled on the style of the original Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 dive watch that the company produced in 1969, featuring distinct green hands in tribute to the vintage model. The watch is available in a limited run of just 69 pieces, with the limited edition number engraved on the base plate and a choice of two straps: a grey synthetic option of black rubber, both with pin buckles.
Like the unlimited SeaQ models, the 1969 is water resistant to 20 bar (approximately 200 metres), and features Arabic numerals, indexes and hands accentuated with the historic “Old Radium” hue. Both models feature an attractive base plate showcasing the trident maritime symbol, the Glashütte Original Double-G and 20 waves, which symbolize the 20 bar water resistance.
For professional divers looking to explore even deeper, the SeaQ Panorama Date is water resistant up to 30 bar: approximately 300 meters. This water resistance of both models is enhanced by numerous details, such as the screw-down crown, the base plate secured by a ring on the SeaQ model or the centrally screwed sapphire crystal case back on the SeaQ Panorama Date.
The life of a diver can depend on the flawless functioning of his watch. For this reason, the engineers and watchmakers at Glashütte Original set maximum reliability as the central premise in the development of the SeaQ. The DIN and ISO tested diver’s watch meets the most stringent German and international quality standards in terms of water resistance, legibility, shock resistance, resistance to salt water and other criteria.
