High up in the Swiss Alps, the resort town of Gstaad is an exclusive enclave that comes alive with well-dressed skiers each winter and equally stylish alpine enthusiasts each summer, drawn by hundreds of miles of slopes, hiking trails and a year-round calendar of sporting and music events. Unlike some of its glitzier Swiss siblings, Gstaad is a town of understated luxury, with a handful of highly-regarded chalets and lodges that offer a discrete and intimate guest experience.
Notable among these is Ultima Gstaad, a modern luxury chalet in the heart of the village with six private residences and 11 spectacular suites, recently redesigned by the company’s new in-house creative team.
The one- and two-bedroom hideaways are a clever blend of authentic alpine style and modern luxuries, beautifully appointed with Baccarat and bronze furnishings, chunky wood-beamed ceilings and walls, parquet floors and gleaming marble bathrooms. Each of the suites has a cosy fireplace and private balcony looking out towards the surrounding mountains and/or Gstaad village, as well as Bvlgari amenities and sumptuous leather headboards.
Ultima Gstaad Restaurant has been given a top-to-toe makeover in keeping with the oh-so chic lobby, and has a new seasonal menu, and there’s a new Games Room that provides plenty of entertainment during those long winter nights, as well as a kids’ play area and a Middle Eastern shisha bar. Wellness remains front and centre of the offering at Ultima Gstaad thanks to its Swiss clinic and spa, which has a new collection of treatments including cryotherapy, reiki and meditation, as well as botox, laser treatment and detox programmes.
The hotel is now open for Winter 2021/22 season.
