When Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta looked back on his life of travel, during which he covered more than 100,000 kilometres by foot, horse and camel, he may well have noted a distinct lack of comfortable lodging along the way. If only he had access to places like his namesake Oaks Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai Hotel during his travels, a palatial property with 352 Morocco-inspired guestrooms and 44 suites inspired by his journeys around the world. Among the collection of premium accommodation, the two Royal Suites span 140 sqm, with two king bedrooms and outdoor terraces, while the 29 Battuta Suites offer a generous 85 sqm, with separate living areas and city-view terraces; both temping propositions for modern-day nomads. Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites, part of Anantara owner Minor International, recently took over management of the former Mövenpick property, whose salmon-coloured façade is a familiar sight on the road to Abu Dhabi or Al Maktoum International Airport.
