Rising from the rolling dunes of the Empty QuarteR like a desert mirage, Qasr al Sarab Resort by Anantara has been captivating guests and visitors since it first opened in 2009. To mark its first decade, the resort has introduced a new Bedouin Night Camping Experience that allows guests to explore deeper into the desert than ever before and spend a night under the stars in this otherworldly landscape.
The huddle of Bedouin-style tents are nestled among the dunes on the edge of the Rub’ al Khali, the world’s largest sand desert. Reached via a leisurely camel ride across the sands or a 4x4 transfer from Qasr al Sarab, guests are welcomed to the camp at a colourful open-air majlis with Arabic coffee and dates, before being escorted to their sumptuous tents. Visitors can try their hand at archery and watch a falconry display during their stay; or perhaps explore the sands on a dune bashing excursion or learn about the skills required to hunt in the barren desert landscape.
Back at the resort, Anantara Spa has emerged from an anniversary make-over with a programme of new treatments and wellness offerings including hot yoga; and the open-air Al Falaj restaurant is introducing live cooking experiences to showcase the wonders of Arabian cuisine.
