The Peninsula Paris has arrived in Knightsbridge for a pop-up exhibition at Harrods.
The special tie-up kicked off earlier this month and will continue until October 7, 2014, uniting the two prestigious brands.
The Hans Crescent window display depicts a night shot of the new Parisian hotel, along with 200 crystal leaves and miniature versions of the hotel’s “Dancing Leaves” installation.
The 800 hand-blown crystal leaves, created by the renowned Lasvit atelier, were inspired by the plane trees lining Avenue Kléber. Along the façade of the department store, six digital windows portray more images of the hotel.
Shoppers at Harrods will be able to receive an exclusive accommodation offer at The Peninsula Paris via a QR code on the window display. The promotion grants a 15 percent reduction on room rates, a guaranteed upgrade and complimentary Peninsula Afternoon Tea for two in The Lobby.
The two luxe brands are pitching themselves as a boon for luxury shoppers, with both Knightsbridge and Avenue Kleber, home of The Peninsula Paris, seen as legendary retail destinations.
Avenue Kleber, in the16th arrondissement is steps away from the Champs Elysées, Faubourg St Honoré and Paris’ most exclusive luxury stores, together with a range of boutiques, restaurants and cafes.
"Dancing Leaves" at The Peninsula Paris
The Peninsula Paris, which opened to great fanfare in August, is housed in a late 19th century-style building that actually began life as Hotel Majestic in 1908. After more than a century the property has become steeped in history, accommodating the likes wayfaring artists and entrepreneurs.
One former occupant, George Gershwin, composed “An American in Paris” while staying at the hotel in 1928. And Henry Kissinger negotiated the end of the Vietnam War in 1973 from the building’s salon, which is now Le Bar Kléber.
The Peninsula Hotels also marked the hotel's launch witha special "All Things French" celebration across its other hotels back in July.
