Good luck trying to make a reservation any time soon - Danish restaurant Noma has once again been voted the best in the world.
That is, at least, according to the results of last night’s The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards. The foremost awards event in global cuisine is is held annually at London’s Guildhall, organised by Restaurant magazine and sponsored by both St. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
After nine years on the list and three consecutive wins in 2010, 2011 and 2012, Noma chef-owner René Redzepi has been recognised for his original take on Nordic cuisine.
Redzepi said he strives to reflect the “Danish landscape and culture” with his signature dishes. The two Michelin-starred chef was praised for his meticulous attention to detail, innovative approach to foraging and experimentation with fermentation.

Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca earned silver, with Chef Jordi Roca also scoring the inaugural title of World’s Best Pastry Chef. Spain has seven restaurants in the top 50 list this year and three are in the top ten. Mugaritz is at six, with fellow San Sebastian establishment Arzak remaining at eight.
For the first time in the history of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, the UK has two restaurants within the top ten. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal scored fifth place, moving up from seventh, and Brett Graham’s The Ledbury at snuck into the top ten, up three spots from last year.
With seven restaurants on the list overall and two restaurants in the top ten, the USA ties with Spain and France for the highest number of restaurants featured.
Eleven Madison Park in New York moved up one spot to fourth position, claiming "The Best Restaurant in North America". On the opposite coast, San Francisco's Saison was deemed “One To Watch”.
The Highest Climber Award went to Central in Lima. The restaurant is now at number 15, having climbed 35 places – quite fitting for the Peruvian capital, surrounded by mountains.
Asia also boasts seven restaurants in the list, including “The Best Restaurant in Asia” - Nahm in Bangkok, Thailand, comes in at thirteen.

The list is created from the votes of The Diners Club's World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, an influential group of over 900 international leaders in the restaurant industry.
