The world’s number one restaurant is heading east for a three-week residency in the land of the rising sun and tables will be available to book from today (Monday) at 1pm Tokyo time.
Chef René Redzepi and the Noma team will pop-up at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo from January 9 to 31, 2015, transforming its French restaurant, Signature, into a temporary branch of the Copenhagen eatery.
While in Japan, Chef Redzepi will study and source Japanese produce in order to create an original menu – with some help from the hotel’s own culinary team.
Noma was recently ranked as the world’s number one restaurant in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The Japanese incarnation will seat up to forty diners in its main space, with capacity for ten additional guests in the private dining area, for lunch and dinner each day.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our own colleagues to learn and be inspired by Chef René’s talent, innovation and passion for food,” said general manager, Anthony Costa.
“It is also an exciting event in the culinary world, and we’re proud to offer this once-in-a-lifetime experience to guests of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo. We hope that this will be the first of future collaborations between Noma and Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo,” he added.

The package is priced from JPY 149,500 (US $1,466) for two guests and includes one night of accommodation, dinner at ‘Noma at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo’ on the night of stay, breakfast and a special commemorative gift.
