Hidden among the foliage on the edge of a lagoon in the upper Okavango Delta, Shinde Camp puts guests in the heart of one of Africa’s most diverse eco-systems.
Rebuilt from the ground up last year, the camp is accessible by land or water, giving guests the option to set off on overland game drives in private vehicles, or slip into the waters of the Okavango in a traditional mokoro canoe or motorised launch, for a chance to view Botswana’s diverse wildlife from a unique perspective.
The central part of the new-look camp is built into the canopy like a rather luxurious adult-sized treehouse. Private corners and comfy nooks are ideal for sitting back and sipping on something cool and refreshing while observing life unfold in the lagoon beyond.
Radiating out from the main lodge, eight elegantly appointed tents powered by solar energy capture the charm and simple grace of traditional safari tents, each featuring a large bedroom with four-poster canopy bed, and separate bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers.
For an intimate Okavango safari experience, Shinde Enclave is an exclusive camp-within-a-camp. Set apart from the rest of the lodge, the Enclave is home to three standalone tents (sleeping six guests) connected by a central area around a fire pit, with a private bar and lounge, an imitate dining room and a sun deck with loungers, plus the services of a private waiter and safari guide.
