The United Arab Emirate’s national airline Emirates has signed a codeshare agreement with American carrier JetBlue opening up a further 20 American destinations to travellers.
Emirates currently flies from Dubai to six US cities, including daily services to Dallas/Fort Worth and Seattle-Tacoma, which launched earlier this year. A non-stop daily service to Washington DC is due to launch on September 12, 2012.
Thierry Antinori, Emirates' executive vice president of passenger sales worldwide, said, "Emirates' network within the US will soon extend to almost 20 cities through our partner JetBlue."
With this new partnership, Emirates passengers can connect at New York’s JFK airport via JetBlue.
“As a one-way codeshare, an Emirates' flight number will be placed on JetBlue services to the following cities: Boston (BOS), Burlington (BTV), Buffalo (BUF), Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Jacksonville (JAX), Orlando (MCO), Portland, Maine (PWM), Raleigh/Durham (RDU), Tampa (TPA) and Washington Dulles (IAD)," the airline explained in a statement.
Emirates flies from Terminal 4 at JFK, which is directly opposite the JetBlue terminal, allowing for an easy transfer in New York.
